It will always be one of my favourite-ever memories.

I grew up in Fazakerley and would always play football on Adlam Park. It was a popular place to go and none other than Colin Harvey would sometimes be there, playing tennis with a friend of his.

When he did, I remember the excitement and my friends were exactly the same... It was Colin Harvey!

A few times we would get close enough and end up playing ball boy for him so we could start a conversation. I remember a couple of times he asked us to go to the old Reo newsagents to buy him a bottle of cream soda - and he would always give us enough to get something for ourselves and let us keep the change.

On another occasion, he joined in our game of football for a good 20 minutes - days after winning the league title in 1969/70. I often wonder what Harry Catterick would have made of him playing in a 20-a-side game with us!

He was everything you would want from an Everton player and someone you looked up to as a kid.

A true gentleman and a true Evertonian.
