Dominic Calvert-Lewin revealed his pride after Everton followed up their barnstorming success against Chelsea last weekend with a display rich in resilience, desire and ambition to draw at Manchester United.
The striker added the team was hungry to deliver another performance reflective of the fans’ unwavering passion for “this special club”.
The Blues drew 1-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday, having taken a first half-lead when Victor Lindelof put through his own goal.
The home team levelled 13 minutes from time when Mason Greenwood’s accurate shot found the bottom corner.
Calvert-Lewin – outstanding again in spearheading the Everton attack – received a rousing reception from the travelling Evertonians when he saluted them after the game.
“This is special club – you feel so close to the fans,” he said.
“They head and kick every ball with the team and to be able to put in back-to-back performances like that, it’s what we want as players and there’s no better feeling to walk across to celebrate with them.
“I couldn’t stop smiling.
“It’s unbelievably special."
Having won the man-of-the-match award after netting a double in that win over Chelsea, Calvert-Lewin produced another mature centre-forward performance at Old Trafford.

His physical presence and intelligent link-up play again impressed, while he rained in three shots at goal, the most of any Everton player.
The 22-year-old’s relentless work-ethic and desire, meanwhile, was highlighted by the fact he contested 27 duels – a match-high.
Calvert-Lewin paid tribute to the influence of manager Duncan Ferguson in helping to inspire his excellent displays.
“You see the passion he has for the Club and how much the fans love him, and it rubs off on us players when we’re playing," he explained.
“I think you can see again today, to a man we’ve worked our socks off. And if you can’t win the game, don’t lose it. I think that was the main message today.
“He’s given me all the backing in the world and given me the confidence to perform. I can’t ask for any more than that. He’s been top.”
