What The Papers Say - 3 May

Former Premier League forward Chris Sutton has backed Everton to secure all three points this evening against Luton Town.

Sean Dyche's side travel south tonight having already secured top-flight safety for next season. With this in mind, Sutton believes the Blues will play with freedom that will see them come out on top.Ā

Writing on theĀ BBC SportĀ website, he said: "Everton are safe now, and what a tremendous job Sean Dyche has done there.

"Dyche says keeping the Toffees up with three games to go is his biggest achievement as a manager, and I can understand why he feels that way after the campaign they have had.

"If not for their points deductions, Everton would have been a mid-table team for most of the campaign and would not have been worried about the drop.

"Luton, meanwhile, are still in the thick of the relegation scrap and you could argue this is a decent opportunity for them, given Everton have just made sure of staying up and might take their foot off the gas a bit.Ā

"Luton won at Goodison Park earlier in the season, but I don't see them repeating that result here. The pressure is all on them now, while we should see Everton play with a bit of freedom."

Manager Dyche spoke to the press yesterday ahead of Friday's game, and confirmed Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto are back in contention.

Quoted in theĀ Liverpool ECHO, the Blues boss said: "He (Calvert-Lewin) was out on the grass today. So we're hopeful for no reaction and therefore he would certainly be in consideration [for Luton].

"[Beto] is clear and he trained today."

Dyche also provided an update on Lewis Dobbin who played for the Under-21s at the beginning of the week.

"It's still early. He's had around six weeks out but he played about 65 minutes on Monday," he said. "I went over to the game - and we'd like to get him involved sooner rather than later.

"Just before he got injured he had a real chance of playing as he was doing very well. But equally, we've got to be fair to his true fitness so he can deliver if and when he gets on the pitch."
