Young Blues Beaten On The Road

Everton Under-18s suffered a 4-1 defeat against a strong Sunderland side at the Academy Of Light Training Ground on Saturday afternoon.

Sunderland Under-18s are 2nd in the division and are now just one point off Manchester City.

Owen Barker’s late goal for the Blues turned out to just a consolation, as Sunderland took the three points in an impressive victory.

Mason Cotcher put the home team in front after 32 minutes, but the score was just 1-0 at half-time.

However, Jake Waters’ strike early in the second half doubled the lead for Sunderland. Thomas Watson added a third in the 71st minute.

Barker then pulled one back for the Toffees, but Waters added his second in the 89th minute to secure the 4-1 win for Sunderland.

Everton, now 9th in the table, are back in action on Tuesday 18 April (12.30 BST). They take on Middlesborough at Finch Farm
