Chris Jones

Chris Jones originally joined Chelsea as reserve-team fitness coach in June 2006 and stayed at Stamford Bridge until January 2021 – save for a single season working with Frank Lampard at Derby County in 2018/19.

The Englishman's promotion to a first-team position in 2009 coincided with Chelsea’s Double campaign, when Paul Clement was assistant to boss Carlo Ancelotti and Lampard’s 27 goals included 22 in a Premier League season when the London side pipped Manchester United by one point.

A variety of elite managers – Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink, among them – retained Jones as a prominent backroom-team figure in a period when Chelsea won one Champions League, three Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one UEFA Cup and one League Cup.

Jones was by Lampard’s side as Derby reached the 2019 Championship play-off final and duly followed Chelsea's record goalscorer back to West London as his assistant.

He remained with Chelsea until January 2021 and 12 months later accepted an offer to team up with Lampard at Goodison Park.
