Benitez Names Starting XI For Palace Trip

Andre Gomes begins a first Premier League game this season and there is a start for Fabian Delph, as Rafa Benitez makes three changes to his starting XI for Sunday’s visit to Crystal Palace.

Mason Holgate starts the match at centre-back after replacing Yerry Mina in the opening half of Monday’s victory over Arsenal.

The goalscorers in that dramatic Goodison Park denouement, Richarlison and Demarai Gray, play in a front three also featuring Andros Townsend.

Delph and Gomes, meanwhile, are joined in midfield by Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Ben Godfrey makes his 50th Everton appearance, at left-back, and captain Seamus Coleman is on the right of defence.

Holgate plays next to Premier League ever present Michael Keane in the middle of the back four.

Jordan Pickford continues in goal.

Anthony Gordon, Salomon Rondon, Alex Iwobi, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Jonjoe Kenny are included among manager Benitez’s substitutes.

They are joined on the bench by Jarrad Branthwaite, Ellis Simms, Tyler Onyango and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
