Spanish newspaper Marca claims Everton are eager to extend James Rodriguez’s contract at the Club.

The Colombian joined the Blues from Real Madrid last summer on a two-year deal. Marca suggests the Club is keen to take up its option of adding another 12 months to James’ contract, with Carlo Ancelotti “convinced he is key to Everton winning a Champions League spot”.

The Daily Mail picks up on further reports in the Spanish media that Everton could be interested in signing Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho.

The Blues are rumoured to be preparing a bid of around £35million for the Brazilian playmaker.

Quotes from Everton boss Ancelotti are included in the Liverpool Echo, with the Italian declaring captain Seamus Coleman has a contract with the Club “forever”.

In an interview originally given to evertontv, Ancelotti said: “I don’t think we have to talk about the [Coleman’s] contract.

“The contract that Seamus has with the Club and this team is forever. It doesn’t mean one-year long or two years long. Seamus’ contract with Everton is forever.”

The Echo also reflects on Everton Under-18s’ 2-1 Youth Cup quarter-final defeat at West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night.

The Blues beat tournament favourites Manchester City and Chelsea on their way to the last eight but were edged out in closely-fought battle at The Hawthorns.
