Everton Under-18s were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United at Finch Farm on Saturday morning.

James McEvoy had the ball in the net early on for the visitors but it was ruled out for offside, before United got one that did count midway through the first half, as the dangerous Edson DeJonge-Seiros crossed from the left and Jariyah Shah slammed into the back of the net.

Everton grew into the contest and Harry Brookes saw an effort blocked, while Dafi Pemberton spun cleverly on the edge of the penalty area before pulling his shot wide of the target.

The Blues' Rodney Aduda then saw his header well saved after being picked out by Harvey Billington.

United had chances, too. Juame Camacho wasn’t far away with a snapshot and Nathaniel Junior-Brown failed to hit the target after catching the hosts' in possession.

Early in the second period, Blues' goalkeeper Ted Wilcox safely gathered an attempt from DeJonge-Seiros and, at the other end, a John Dodds close-range volley was athletically turned away by United shot-stopper Charlie Hardy.

The second United goal came on 56 minutes – James McEvoy heading home from a dangerous corner.

Genuine opportunities were at a premium after that. Freddie Murdock curled a direct free-kick over the United crossbar with nine minutes left, and Wilcox reacted well to deny United's Jacey Carrick from a similar set piece.

United wrapped up the points in stoppage time, as Louie Bradbury burst through to guide home a third goal.
