Catch Up With Joseph Yobo For Latest Fan Friday Event!

This week’s very special guest on our Blue Family Fan Friday chat show is Joseph Yobo!

The Nigerian centre-back was David Moyes’ first signing for Everton back in the summer of 2002 and went on to play 259 games for the Toffees, scoring 10 goals.

His supreme athleticism and commanding presence made him the ideal central defender and he forged terrific partnerships with the likes of David Weir, Alan Stubbs, Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka during his time at Goodison.

Yobo was also a pivotal part of the Everton dressing room with his infectious bubbly character making him one of the most popular members of the squad.

The Zoom event is available for a limited number of supporters – fill out the form below before 2pm on Friday to be in with a chance of joining in!

Last week’s Blue Family Fan Friday guest was Tony Cottee, who joined his former teammate Graham Stuart for 45 minutes of entertaining conversation.

Cottee revealed his frustration at ending his Blues career on 99 goals, the fall-out with Howard Kendall that threatened to derail his time at Goodison Park, and his opinion on what went wrong in the 1993/94 season.

He also added that he regrets not extending his time at Everton so he could have played under Joe Royle and alongside Duncan Ferguson.

Graham’s own memories of the unforgettable Wimbledon game centred around ‘the only return pass TC ever game me when I scored our third goal!’

These special Fan Friday events are part of Everton’s increased Blue Family activity following the announcement of another national lockdown – and help keep supporters connected with the Club they love during this difficult time.

Blue Family was launched in March 2020 to provide vital assistance to some of the most vulnerable and socially isolated members of the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

The campaign has supported more than 27,000 vulnerable and at-risk families, made almost 25,000 check-in and welfare calls, delivered in excess of 14,000 emergency food parcels and provided more than 250,000 meals for school children, participants and local residents.

The expansion of activity will include increased outbound calls to fans and additional support to deal with an increase in referrals for people in need.

The Club will also offer bespoke online content for supporters across the world. The Blue Family section of the official Everton website is home to a wealth of online content to support home learning, fan wellbeing and remote supporter interaction.
