Everton are closing on an agreement to bring Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez to Goodison Park, according to Tuesday’s national and local media.

The Daily Telegraph and Guardian both say the Blues are in negotiations with the La Liga side to take the 29-year-old on a permanent deal, with the Telegraph claiming Rodriguez was given permission to skip training with the Spanish club on Monday to allow him to sort his future.

It is also understood by the Guardian that Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti last week spoke to Rodríguez - a player he has previously managed at both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich - in an attempt to persuade him to move to Merseyside.

The Daily Star says Rodriguez, the 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner, will have a medical this week but suggests it is “unclear” if the transfer will be permanent or initially a loan deal.

Another midfielder said to be Goodison-bound is Brazil international Allan, with the Guardian understanding the Napoli midfielder, 29, will also undergo a medical this week.

The paper points to an interview the Italian club's chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis gave to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, in which he said: “We are at the final farewell. Allan will go to Everton.”

The Guardian speculates Ancelotti also remains keen on Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, 27.

Barcelona right-back Emerson is rumoured to be interesting Everton and AC Milan, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Real Betis, the same club were he spent the 2019/20 campaign, with the Spanish newspaper hinting the Blues have already had one approach for the defender turned down.

Finally, the Liverpool Echo reports Everton's new third kit for the 2020/21 season has achieved record-breaking sales.

The 'seafoam and charcoal' coloured strip, designed by technical partner hummel, was revealed last week with players from the Club’s disability programme modelling the new look.

The offering smashed the previous record for opening-day third kit sales set last season, with a 41 per cent increase in orders.
