Everton Under-23s will face Runcorn Town in a behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly at USM Finch Farm on Saturday (3pm), the fixture replacing the Blues’ previously scheduled game against Wigan Athletic Under-23s.

David Unsworth’s team were due to take on Wigan in their second pre-season contest of the summer but the clash was cancelled after the Latics confirmed they would not be sending a team.

Runcorn play in the North West Counties League Premier Division and were seventh in the table last season before the league was abandoned due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Everton kicked off their 2020/21 friendly fixtures against Southport FC on Saturday, with the young Blues edged out 2-1 in a highly-competitive clash. Read a full report from that game here and reaction from boss Unsworth here.
