Grassroots Teams Invited To Apply For Free WSL Derby Tickets

Girls' grassroots teams in the Merseyside area are being invited to apply for free tickets to Everton's historic derby against Liverpool FC Women at Goodison Park next month.

The Blues are working in collaboration with Liverpool County FA to offer local players the chance to witness the first ever Barclays FA WSL derby to be hosted at the stadium on Sunday 9 February (kick off 2pm).

Everton will be looking to make it back-to-back wins over their city rivals having triumphed 1-0 in November's reverse fixture in front of 23,500 spectators at Anfield.

Anna Farrell, Football Development Officer at Liverpool FA, said: “It is such a momentous occasion for young female footballers from across our region to have the chance to watch a women’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park and a great gesture from Everton Women to offer our female teams free tickets.

“It’s given our local players and coaches of all ages the opportunity to watch their role models play and [it will] showcase the women’s game. It’s also fantastic to see the Club supporting and recognising the development of the women’s game.”

Registered Liverpool County FA teams can apply for free tickets by emailing Anna.Farrell@liverpoolfa.com before 12pm on Wednesday 29 January.

Everton currently sit fifth in the WSL standings having recorded six wins from their 11 league outings this term.

“Hosting the first ever FA WSL Merseyside derby match at Goodison Park provides the perfect platform to inspire the next generation of women’s players and help to continue to grow our game," said Toffees boss Willie Kirk.

“It’s great to be able to invite local grassroots teams to watch this historic clash and hopefully we’ll see some future Everton Women stars in the crowd.”

Andrea Johnson, Head of Girls for Whittle Hall Junior Football Club, said: “We are so excited to have received tickets from Everton to watch the women’s Merseyside derby. It is such a fantastic opportunity to show our girls a positive image of the sport they love to play, showing them that there are no barriers and maybe one day they, too, could be playing on that pitch.”

Everton's ongoing commitment to allowing Season Ticket, Lounge and Official Members free access to women’s games will continue for the fixture, although all Members will be required to claim a ticket and select their seat in advance.

Tickets are otherwise £6 for adults and £3 for over-65s and juniors, with a £10 premium ticket also on offer.
