Teenage Goalkeeper Pens First Pro Everton Deal

Goalkeeper Zan-Luk Leban has signed a professional contract with Everton, penning a deal until June 2022.

Slovenian Leban, who turned 17 on Sunday, joined the Blues this summer from Polish outfit FCB Escola Varsovia.

The talented stopper has recently returned to full training after suffering an ankle ligament injury during pre-season.

He revealed his pride after committing his future to Everton and set out his determination to hit the ground running upon his return to peak fitness.

“I am so happy to sign this contract,” said Leban, who has been capped by Slovenia at Under-17 level.

“Ever since I was a young boy, I have dreamed of becoming a professional footballer and to sign for a Club with the prestige of Everton is incredible for myself and my family. I’m very proud.

"I would like to thank my family and everyone who has supported me in my football career so far for helping me reach this point.

“Ever since I joined Everton in the summer, I have been made to feel so welcome. The coaching staff are excellent and I am eager to repay the faith they have shown in me.

“I was frustrated by my injury, of course, but I am now feeling good and I will work as hard as possible to develop my game. I know I am in the best place to do that.”
