Midfielder Davies Receives Under-21 Call

Tom Davies has been named in the England Under-21 squad for European Championship qualifying matches next month against Turkey and Kosovo.

Everton midfielder Davies will hope to add to his 12 Under-21 caps as Aidy Boothroyd's side launch their bid to reach the finals of the 2021 tournament in Hungary and Slovenia.

A shoulder injury ruled Davies out of this summer's finals tournament in Italy and San Marino and he last represented the Young Lions in a friendly match with Germany back in March.

Manager Boothroyd's team play Turkey in Kocaelispor's new 34,712-capacity Izmit Stadium on Friday 6 September.

They return home for a game at Hull City's KCOM Stadium against Kosovo on Monday 9 September.

Centre-half Lewis Gibson, meanwhile, is included in Paul Simpson's England Under-20 party for UEFA Elite League meetings with Holland and Switzerland.

The defender featured regularly for Everton in pre-season and scored his first senior goal against German outfit Mainz 05.

Gibson's national team begin their Elite League campaign with a visit from the Dutch, England facing Holland at Shrewsbury Town's Montgomery Waters Meadow home on Thursday 5 September.

Manager Simpson takes his side to Basel to tackle Switzerland on Monday 9 September.

Anthony Gordon is in the England Under-19 party for friendly meetings with Greece and Germany.

In-form attacker Gordon, 18, has scored three goals in his past two appearances for David Unsworth's young Everton charges.

England Under-19s play in Germany on Monday 9 September, four days after hosting Greece at St George's Park on Thursday 5 September.

The Everton trio of Lewis Dobbin, Tyler Onyango and Reece Welch have been called into the England Under-17s' squad for next month's Syrenka Cup in Poland.

Striker Dobbin and midfielder Onyango, both 16, along with 15-year-old defender Welch, could potentially feature in England's opening game against Finland on Friday 6 September.

England's opponents for subsequent games on Sunday 8 September and Tuesday 10 September will be determined by results in the tournament's first round of matches.
