Striker Kean Makes Vow To Evertonians

Moise Kean has vowed to Everton fans his impressive rise in football “is only just the beginning” as he targets “big things” with the Blues.

The 19-year-old striker made his Goodison debut in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Watford, being treated to a rapturous reception from the home crowd after coming on as a 72nd-minute substitute for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Kean had enough time to catch the eye in his cameo appearance, blasting a fierce shot over the bar following a swift counter-attack with match-winner Bernard and dragging an effort inches wide in the closing moments.

It was Kean’s second appearance for the Blues, having come off the bench in last weekend’s goalless draw at Crystal Palace.

The summer signing from Juventus had made rapid strides in the game despite his tender years. It was shortly after he turned 19 that Kean scored twice on his first Juve start. In the following month and a half, he hit the winner against AC Milan, answered the racists from Cagliari in consummate style with a goal and won the Serie A title.

Kean also marked his full senior international debut by becoming Italy’s second youngest scorer when he netted against Finland.

The good news for Evertonians, though - the forward is confident much more is to come.

“I am ambitious and I am with a club which wants to achieve big things in the future,” Kean told Everton’s official matchday programme. “I will give my best and try to help Everton reach their targets.

“I am very positive and ready for this experience.

“I can adapt to different situations and environments. It will be gradual, of course, but I am doing well.

“This is just the beginning. You have not seen anything yet.”

To see Kean’s features illuminate when he talks about playing football is to understand this is a teenager besotted with his sport.

He confesses Everton manager Marco Silva has introduced him to a level of training intensity the player has never explored.

The teenager likes what he is discovering, albeit his days at USM Finch Farm are leaving Kean short of the bounce needed to indulge in his favourite form of relaxation.

“I normally like to dance, my favourite music is pop or hip hop” he says. “When my brother or friends visit we dance a lot, then play PlayStation until it is time to sleep.”

His main passion is without question, however.

“My life is football, I live for football,” adds Kean.

“I eat football.

“I sleep thinking about football.

“It is very difficult to explain emotion, or passion, but this is what I feel.”
