Richarlison On Target As Brazil Win Copa America

Richarlison was on target as Brazil won their ninth Copa America – and fifth on home soil – with a 3-1 victory over Peru.

The Everton forward wrapped up a glorious night for the hosts when he slotted home from the penalty spot to spark jubilant celebrations in Rio.

Richarlison, who made his international debut only last September following his move to the Blues, was named on the bench for the final but was introduced with 15 minutes remaining to earn his 13th cap.

Brazil took a 15th-minute lead through Everton Soares and, although Peru levelled just before the break with a penalty, Gabriel Jesus found the target in first-half stoppage time.

The Manchester City striker was shown a second yellow card on 70 minutes but Brazil were not to be denied in their home Copa America. And when Everton was brought down in the area, Richarlison kept his cool from 12 yards out to steer his nation to glory.
