Richarlison Impresses As Brazil Win Opener

Richarlison helped get hosts Brazil’s Copa America campaign off to winning start with an integral role in their 3-0 victory over Bolivia in São Paulo.

The Everton forward started the Group A opener on the right of Brazil’s front three and caught the eye with an impressive display.

After a frustrating first half for the home nation, they found the breakthrough on 50 minutes when Richarlison burst into the area and won a penalty for handball which Philippe Coutinho converted.

The two players were involved in the second moments later as Richarlison’s sublime defence-splitting pass began a flowing move, Roberto Firimino crossed and Coutinho tucked home from four yards out.

Richarlison made way for Willian with six minutes remaining, and the points were made safe for Brazil late on when substitute Everton Soares hammered a curling effort into the top corner.

Brazil are back in action on Wednesday against Venezuela.
