Toffees Trio Involved In International Action

Jordan Pickford, Seamus Coleman, and Amadou Onana all featured in international action on Saturday evening.

Pickford’s England were narrowly beaten by Brazil, losing 1-0 at Wembley Stadium, while Coleman captained the Republic of Ireland in a goalless draw against Onana’s Belgium.

The start for Pickford represented his 59th senior cap for the Three Lions, who fell to a late goal from highly-regarded 17-year-old prospect Endrick.

The Blues shot-stopper played the full 90 minutes in the friendly fixture, making three saves for his team, while completing 94 per cent of his passes, including an impressive nine of 11 long balls.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite – called up to the senior squad for the first time – was an unused substitute for England, who face Belgium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

Meanwhile in Dublin, the friendly between the Republic of Ireland and Belgium ended as a 0-0 draw, with Everton captain Coleman leading his side for the full 90 minutes.

Operating in a right-wing-back role for the Irish, Coleman won six of his nine ground duels, helping his team towards a clean sheet.

Next up, the Republic of Ireland welcome Switzerland to the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm GMT).

For the opposition, Blues midfielder Onana featured for the final half-hour for Belgium, who head to Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.
