DCL's Delight At Reaching 50 PL Goals

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has described the achievement of scoring 50 Premier League goals for Everton as a "proud" moment in his career.

The Everton striker netted the decisive goal of the game in Sunday afternoon's 1-0 win away to West Ham United. Just six minutes into the second half, he laid the ball off to Harrison on the edge of the penalty area before receiving it back, turning excellently and then burying his effort into the bottom corner of Areola's net.

That was his fourth goal of the season and a key strike that helped him reach a significant Premier League milestone for the Club.

Reflecting on the moment, he told evertontv: "I sit next to Loners (Andy Lonergan) on the coach on the way to games and he said 'You are one away from 50' before the game.

"I thought coming away to West Ham, I always like playing here and I always seem to score, so I had a good feeling coming into the game. To score 50 Premier League goals for Everton Football Club is a proud moment for me and I am in good company. I know I'm not far off the next one up the list now, so that's my next target."

He added: "Coming here, you never forget scoring goals and the feeling it gives you. When you have done it before, you feel that before games. Coming here gave me a little bit more confidence and I was confident I was going to score."

The goal capped off another fine display from Calvert-Lewin who was unabating in leading the Everton attack.  He completed the joint-most dribbles (two) for Everton, won the most aerial duels (six) and ranked second behind only Amadou Onana for ground duels won (nine).

Acknowledging that well-rounded display, Calvert-Lewin explained that he's hugely enjoying his football right now and believes "consistency" in terms of playing time has been key in allowing him to get back to his very best.

"I'm enjoying being back on the pitch," he said. "I'm enjoying the consistency of games which I have lacked for so long. I think everyone knows the quality I possess on the pitch and I know myself what I can do when I am fit and firing.

"I think the most important thing for me is putting games together and continuing to build that sharpness. Today's goal was typical of the way I am feeling at the moment, I was a little bit more in a flow state rather than thinking too much. I was just in my rhythm."

The Toffees return to action this Wednesday (7.45pm GMT) when they welcome Burnley to Goodison Park in the Carabao Cup.
