Sean Dyche praised the improved performance from Everton against Wolves on Saturday afternoon but said the team must show a more ruthless edge if they want to deliver deserved positive results.  

Everton showed a strong reaction to last week's disappointing 4-0 defeat at Aston Villa and dominated much of Saturday's contest, generating 15 shots. However, they conceded from Wolves' first shot on target in the 87th minute en route to a frustrating defeat.  

Post-match, Dyche explained that creating quality chances in isolation wasn't enough, and his side must find the clinical edge required to put them away.  

"We were miles off it last week, but back on it today," he told evertontv. "A good reaction with a good performance but we have to score goals.  

"I can't keep going on saying we have played well again, we have, we've made quality chances today but you have to take them and take responsibility for that.  

"Their keeper ended up man of the match, it was the same against Fulham. We give them the chance to save things they shouldn't be saving. That's what we have got to change because a lot was right today.  

On the frustration of the result itself, Dyche added: "We created enough to win the game, but we didn't win the game so it is total responsibility on myself, the staff and the players to correct that because performance levels other than last week have been good."  

The Blues have the chance to immediately bounce back from their frustrating start to the new season with two games in the space of four days next week.   

First, they head to League Two Doncaster in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday (8pm kick-off BST) before a second road trip to Sheffield United on Saturday back in Premier League action (12.30pm kick-off BST).  

Dyche recognises that presents him and the team a chance to put things right and get at least one crucial victory under their belt.  

"We’ve got to stick to the process [in those upcoming matches] in terms of what we’re doing because of the performances," he explained. "Two out of the three have been right. 

"That’s got to stay. The hard work has got to stay. The defensive unit, other than the mistake, that’s got to stay. And the team unit and how it works." 

It's also coming up to the final week of the transfer window, and Dyche admitted the Club will continue to do all they can to get any deals for reinforcements over the line before the deadline passes on 1 September: "We’ll be working as hard as we can to make sure we can hopefully get people in who can affect us in a positive manner."
