Ross Barkley could be set to return to Everton, according to a report from CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs.

Chelsea are believed to be keen for the 28-year-old to move on this summer, with Aston Villa also offered the opportunity to resign the midfielder.

Jacobs adds that Blues boss Frank Lampard is an admirer of Barkley and sees him as a player with "huge potential".

In other transfer news, Sky Sports News states that Everton remain interested in Burnley forward Maxwel Cornet.

Previous rumours speculate that the Club had a loan offer rejected by the Championship side.

While negotiations appear to be ongoing, the broadcaster adds that a deal for the 25-year-old must suit Lampard and Director of Football Kevin Thelwell.

Finally, the Daily Mail reports that rumoured Blues transfer target Emmanuel Dennis is attracting interest from other Premier League sides.

The Nigerian had been linked with a switch to Goodison Park earlier this transfer window, but newly promoted Nottingham Forrest are now believed to be eager to sign the Watford forward.
