Reaction to Everton's 1-0 win over Chelsea continues in Wednesday's media.

Jordan Pickford's heroics for the Blues has earned him a deserved place in Alan Shearer's Team of the Week.

Quoted on the Premier League's website, the former England striker hailed Pickford as a "hero" for Frank Lampard's side.

"A hero in goal. Extraordinary," Shearer wrote.

"Made a string of stunning stops to secure the vital win over Chelsea, including a contender for save of the season."

Looking ahead to the weekend's trip to Leicester City, former Premier League defender Jonathan Woodgate believes Yerry Mina will be crucial to Everton's chances of avoiding relegation.

The Colombian helped to secure a clean sheet with a dominant performance against Chelsea - and Woodgate expects the 27-year-old to help the Club's chances of securing more points away from home, too.

“When you look at their away form – six points all season away from home," he said.

“The last victory was at Brighton on August 28. That isn’t good enough for a team of Everton’s standards. If they keep Mina fit and they keep that spine they’ve got more of a chance, but their home form is imperative.”

In transfer news, Portuguese outlet Record believe Sporting Clube de Portugal are unlikely to sign Joao Virginia on a permanent deal this summer.

The 22-year-old Everton goalkeeper joined the Lisbon side on loan at the start of the season.
