Sports Presenter Stelling To Visit Goodison In Prostate Cancer Walk

Everton will welcome Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling when he marches across the country for a fourth time this summer in aid of Prostate Cancer UK – and Blues fans can sign up to take part in the Merseyside leg of the March For Men now!

After raising more than £1million trekking across the UK in 2016, 2017 and 2019, Stelling will this year be walking marathons in four regions.

He will start in the North East on 30 August, head to Yorkshire the next day, before marching through Merseyside on 1 September. The final day, 4 September, will see his 100-mile trek end in London.

On Merseyside, his route will take him from Tranmere Rovers and end with a short stroll across Stanley Park from Goodison Park – where he finished the sixth leg of his epic 15-day 2017 march – to Anfield.

He will also visit FA Cup giantkillers Marine and the iconic Aintree Racecourse earlier in the day. Everton fans can sign up join Jeff on his walk across the region now by clicking here.

Stelling will finish the Merseyside leg at Anfield in tribute to Liverpool and England legend Ray Clemence, who sadly died last year after a long battle with prostate cancer. His son Stephen and other family members will join Jeff on the day.

Jeff’s aim is to fund lifesaving research to improve testing, treatments and care for those affected by the most common cancer in men.

“One in eight men in the UK will get prostate cancer in their lifetime,” said Stelling. “I deal in stats, but that one still shocks me.

“This is our dads, partners, brothers, grandads, uncles and friends.

“That’s why I wear the Prostate Cancer UK ‘Man of Men’ badge. That’s why we’ve marched across the UK three times, helping raise more than £1million for crucial research to beat prostate cancer. And that’s why I’d love you to join me this summer. As ever we’ll visit some iconic clubs and I’m hoping a few familiar faces will join me along the way.

“Last year, we lost the great Ray Clemence to prostate cancer. A terrific goalkeeper and a terrific human being.

“I also lost my mate, Lloyd Pinder, to the disease a few months earlier. I met him on the second day of my very first march for Prostate Cancer UK up in Yorkshire. This highlights once more what an indiscriminate disease this is, and it’s for men like Lloyd and Ray, their families and everyone affected by prostate cancer that we march again.”
