Yakubu was a guest of NFL's Houston Texans on Friday as the former striker was welcomed to the city ahead of Everton's Premier League Coast to Coast watch party.

The Yak is set to join hundreds of Evertonians at Pitch 25 in downtown Houston on Saturday to watch the Blues' 2026/27 curtain raiser against Crystal Palace and celebrate the start of the new Premier League season.

On the eve of the event, the former Nigeria international headed to Reliant Stadium, where he was shown around by the Texans' two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Johnathan Joseph.

After swapping jerseys with Joseph, a first round draft pick for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2006 who went on to spend nine seasons with the Texans, Yakubu was given a stadium tour, heading pitchside to take in the 72,000-capacity stadium - a venue that hosted seven matches during this summer's FIFA World Cup.

The trip to Reliant Stadium was arranged by Everton’s Official Culinary Experience Partner Aramark, who also provide catering for Reliant Stadium and Houston’s Major League Baseball team, The Astros.

Yakubu also met fans from the HTX (Houston) Evertonians Supporters' Club on Friday, as well as being officially welcomed to Texas by British Consul General in Houston, Richard Shackleton MBE.

The opening weekend of the Premier League season is set to see all 20 Premier League clubs host watch parties across the USA.

Fans heading to Pitch 25 will be able to meet Yakubu, experience Hill Dickinson Stadium thanks to VR technology, win signed Everton merchandise, enjoy performances by freestyle footballer Zohair Ali and more.

Doors will open from 8am CDT ahead of the 9am CDT kick-off, with the Everton and football-themed fun set to continue throughout the day.
