Nearly 450 Evertonians set sail from Chicago’s iconic Navy Pier on Tuesday evening (29 July) aboard the luxury vessel Spirit of Chicago for a once-in-a-lifetime fan experience hosted by Everton Football Club and presented by official timing partner Christopher Ward.

The sold-out event, part of the Blues’ Premier League Summer Series tour, brought together supporters from across North America, the UK and beyond for an unforgettable evening on Lake Michigan, with Everton captain Seamus Coleman headlining an all-star cast of guests from across the Club.

Coleman spent the night mingling with fans, signing autographs and posing for selfies, before taking part in a special Q&A where he reflected on his Everton journey, his connection to the Club and the deep gratitude he feels for the unwavering support he’s received throughout his career.

Joining the skipper were first-team coaching staff Alan Irvine and Leighton Baines, who offered insights into their current roles and fond memories from their playing days, and working under David Moyes, while Club Ambassador Graham Stuart and Everton Giant Adrian Heath shared stories of their own transitions from playing to supporting, with ‘Inchy’ even leading the crowd in an impromptu singalong.

On board, Club partner Christopher Ward created a dedicated experience zone, where fans had the opportunity to explore some of the brand’s latest luxury timepieces up close. The interactive display gave guests a chance to learn more about the craftsmanship behind Christopher Ward’s Anglo-Swiss-designed watches, adding an extra layer of sophistication to the evening.

As the sun set over the Chicago skyline and the Everton themed music and specially curated playlist continued, Hill Dickinson Stadium architect Dan Meis took to the top deck to reflect on the inspiration drawn from the city’s iconic buildings and his emotional connection to Everton’s new home. Meis, who has become a fan favourite among Evertonians, spoke about the personal significance of the Bramley-Moore Dock project and how its impact will influence his future work.

In a surprise moment, Meis was honoured with the Trailblazer Award by the North American Toffees. Presented by Chair Tony Sampson, the award recognises non-football individuals who have made a lasting contribution to Everton’s presence in North America. Meis joins an exclusive list of honourees that includes celebrated Evertonian Dr David France.

The Chicago Cruise is the latest in a series of fan engagement activities delivered by Everton as part of their tour, further strengthening ties with the North American Everton community and underscoring the Club’s deep-rooted identity as a Club connected with its supporters.
