Vitalii Mykolenko is in contention to return for Everton for the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
The left-back missed Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Bournemouth due to a minor calf niggle but, in his pre-match press conference at Finch Farm on Tuesday afternoon, manager David Moyes confirmed the Ukraine international had returned to training and could be back to face Liverpool on Wednesday night (7.30pm GMT).
"He [Mykolenko] started some training today so hopefully he'll be available," said the Blues boss. "That's probably the main one."
Nathan Patterson (hamstring), Seamus Coleman (calf) and Dwight McNeil (knee) remain sidelined, as do strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin (hamstring), Armando Broja (ankle) and Youssef Chermiti (thigh).
On a possible return date for McNeil – who recently had minor surgery on his knee – Moyes added: "I don’t think there’s any real updates on timeframes. I’d probably think it’s the best part of six weeks.
"We're short with our squad at the moment. We've got Tim [Iroegbunam] on the way back. He's beginning to get himself back in a position where he's ready to play.
"Jimmy [Garner]'s done a really good job in the two games he's played."
January loan signing Charly Alcaraz caught the eye on his Blues debut on Saturday, coming off the bench in the second half to impress at Goodison.
Asked whether the 22-year-old, who had a season in the Premier League with Southampton ahead of moves to Juventus and Flamengo, was in line to make his full Toffees bow against Liverpool, Moyes said: "He's done enough by his performance to start the game. Whether I do is another thing. I think sometimes when you bring someone in, you don't know how long it'll take for someone to settle.
"I have to say, he settled very well in the game. He's got Premier League experience, so he's not completely new to this.
"The decision will be made tomorrow on whether we start him or not."
For Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold could return having missed the past two games with a knee injury sustained against Bournemouth.
Defender Joe Gomez is a doubt, though, after being forced off in the first half of Sunday's FA Cup defeat at Plymouth Argyle, while Curtis Jones is also carrying a knock.
