Dominic Calvert-Lewin is confident Everton can “pick up where they left off” from their Chelsea win when the Blues resume Premier League duty at West Ham United on Saturday.

The Toffees secured a morale-boosting 2-0 success over Maurizio Sarri’s side at Goodison on 17 March as a spirited second-half showing was rewarded with goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The momentum gained from the win was halted by the international break but Calvert-Lewin insists Everton will still take encouragement from the display as they travel to east London this weekend knowing victory will move them above the Hammers and into the top half of the table.

Calvert-Lewin has returned from recent England Under-21 duty with clubmates Tom Davies, Jonjoe Kenny and Ademola Lookman, having scored in last Friday’s 1-1 draw against Poland and coming on as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 loss to Germany on Tuesday.

On a personal note, the 22-year-old forward will be bidding to maintain his impressive form after his eye-catching display against Chelsea when his work-rate, pace and power gave the opposition defence a torrid afternoon.

“West Ham are one place above us and if we win we go above them so it’s going to be a tough test but it’s one we’re looking forward to and we’ll take the momentum from the Chelsea game,” said Calvert-Lewin.

“Many of the lads have been on internationals but I’m sure we’ll pick up where we left off when we get back. It’s a big game for us, like every game is for the rest of the season. We’ll be focussing on how we can go down there and beat them.”

Blues boss Silva has spoken about the need for his side to replicate the kind of form they produced between September and December when Everton won five and drew one from seven Premier League games.

Calvert-Lewin accepts the team’s inconsistency since has been frustrating but feels the final seven matches of the season is a chance to build a run of positive results.

“The fans and the players are as frustrated as each other that we’ve not been able to put a run together,” added the striker. “We did earlier in the season but it’s frustrating that our form has fluctuated since.

“With seven games left we’re trying to put some good form together because if you can do that in the Premier League you can leap up places.”
