Everton will take on Newcastle United in a high-profile pre-season fixture at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh this August.
The Blues will face Premier League opposition in the Scottish capital on Wednesday 12 August, kick-off 5.15pm (BST), as David Moyes’ side step up their preparations for the 2026/27 campaign.
The fixture will be both clubs’ inaugural visit to the iconic 101-year-old stadium, while also marking the first summer friendly between Everton and Newcastle since the famous Barcelona Cup final of 1924, won by the Blues at Barcelona’s Camp de Les Corts – the predecessor to Camp Nou.
Tickets are now on general sale via Ticketmaster. Tickets start from £35 for adults and £17 for under-16s, plus booking fees.
Supporters who are not eligible for the exclusive pre-sale window are encouraged to register their interest now to receive the latest updates and be notified when tickets become available.
Set in the heart of Edinburgh, Scottish Gas Murrayfield provides a fitting stage for a major summer fixture between two historic English clubs.
With a capacity of 67,130, Scottish Gas Murrayfield is the largest stadium in Scotland and one of the UK’s most recognisable sporting venues. Originally opened in 1925, the stadium has staged generations of major rugby internationals, landmark sporting occasions, world-class live events and some of the biggest crowds in Scottish sporting history.
Everton also has a long and proud connection with Scotland, from the many Scottish players and managers who have represented the Club with distinction to generations of supporters who have followed the Blues from north of the border. The fixture will mark another notable moment in that relationship, with Everton set to play at Scottish Gas Murrayfield for the first time in the Club’s history.
The match will provide an important test just days before the start of the new Premier League season, while giving Evertonians the chance to enjoy a standout pre-season occasion in one of the UK’s great destination cities.
With a 5.15pm kick-off, supporters can spend the day in Edinburgh, taking in the city’s historic streets, pubs, restaurants and cultural landmarks, including the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which takes place during the same week, before heading to Scottish Gas Murrayfield for the early-evening fixture.
Everton manager David Moyes said: “Facing Newcastle United at Murrayfield gives us a valuable opportunity to test ourselves against Premier League opposition as part of our preparations for the new season.
“Pre-season is an important period for the players and staff, and a fixture like this, in one of the most iconic stadiums in the country, will help us continue building towards the start of the campaign.
“Everton has always had a strong connection with Scotland and we know how well our supporters travel, not just from Merseyside but from across the country.
“Edinburgh is a fantastic city and this fixture gives Evertonians the chance to come together, enjoy the occasion and get behind the team in what should be a really good day for everyone connected with the Club.”
