Everton XI For Preston Carabao Cup Tie

James Garner returns to the Everton starting XI, while Tyler Dibling gets the nod on the right wing for tonight's Carabao Cup second round tie at Preston North End.

Having undergone minor hernia surgery in the summer, Garner is back as the Blues' defensive midfielder at Deepdale, with ex-Preston loanee Harrison Armstrong and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in front of the England international.

Elsewhere, the Toffees' attack sticks with Iliman Ndiaye on the left wing and Thierno Barry up front, who both contributed to Everton's 2-0 opening day Premier League win over Crystal Palace at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday.

In defence, Michael Keane replaces Jarrad Branthwaite, joining captain James Tarkowski, right-back Merlin Röhl and left-back Vitalii Mykolenko, with Jordan Pickford in goal.

On the substitutes' bench, there is a maiden Men's matchday squad place for Academy midfielder Harvey Foster.

Everton XI: Pickford, Röhl, Tarkowski (c), Keane, Mykolenko, Garner, Armstrong, Dewsbury-Hall, Dibling, Ndiaye, Barry.

Subs: Travers, Patterson, Beto, O'Brien, George, Johnson, Alcaraz, Aznou, Foster.
