Christian Nørgaard says it will be an "honour" to wear the same squad number as Seamus Coleman after choosing the Blues' No.23 shirt.

The 32-year-old defensive midfielder penned a two-year contract with the Toffees on Wednesday, completing a move from Premier League champions Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.

Nørgaard will follow in the footsteps of one of Everton's greatest-ever servants and captains in Coleman, who departed the Club at the end of last season after 435 appearances over a distinguished 17-year period.

Speaking to evertontv, Nørgaard, said: "It's a big honour to not only wear the Everton shirt, but to wear the number [23].

"It's been worn by perhaps one of the biggest legends of this club, in Seamus Coleman, who I know has only recently left.

"It's big shoes to fill, but please don't compare. I am a different player with a different history, but I promise you I will wear it with big pride, and big honour."
