The 2024/25 Premier League season drew to a close on a high for Everton this past weekend as they beat Newcastle United 1-0 at St James’ Park.
Despite a challenging first half of the campaign, it ultimately proved to be a season of progress for the Toffees, who finished 13th and two places higher than they did in the 2023/24 season, while also scoring more goals and conceding fewer compared to the previous term.
Below, we delve into the numbers and highlight some of the key statistics and standout bits of trivia from the 2024/25 campaign:
- Everton finished the campaign having accumulated 48 points, as they did the season before (excluding a points deduction). However, 31 of those points were won across David Moyes’ 19 league games in charge.
- Only Liverpool (37), Manchester City (36) and Chelsea (32) won more points in the Premier League since Moyes’ first victory following his return, which came against Tottenham.
- The Toffees also scored more goals and conceded fewer in total this past season than they did in the 2023/24 campaign.
- While only Arsenal conceded fewer away goals on the road in the Premier League this season (21).
- Everton’s victory over Newcastle on the final day meant the Toffees won their final three league games of the campaign for the first time since 1988/89.
- Iliman Ndiaye’s converted penalty against Arsenal, plus his double against Southampton, means the Senegalese international had the privilege of scoring Everton’s final Goodison Park goals at both the Gwladys Street and Park End.
- Ndiaye also finished the season having completed 68 successful dribbles - only three players in the division managed more.
- Going in the other direction, Ndiaye’s Senegal international teammate Idrissa Gana Gueye completed more tackles than any other Premier League player (133).
- Jordan Pickford prevented the most goals in the Premier League this season with 6.03 as per Opta’s Goals Prevented Model, and kept 12 clean sheets - only David Raya and Matz Sels managed more.
- The England No.1 also completed the 2024/25 season by having played every league minute for the Blues. It was the fifth occasion he’s been an ever-present in a league campaign for Everton – only Neville Southall (7) has more for the Club.
- Pickford and James Tarkowski both hit the milestone of making 100 successive PL appearances during the campaign. Additionally, Everton became the first team to play a match in the Premier League era with two players making at least their 100th consecutive start when the Blues took on Arsenal in April.
- Abdoulaye Doucoure’s goal after 10 seconds against Leicester City will forever be the fastest scored in a Men’s game at Goodison Park.
- The departing midfielder also scored Everton’s latest-ever winner in an away game during the 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest.
- Teammate Ashley Young became the Club’s oldest goalscorer when he netted in the 4-0 home win over Wolves (39 years, 148 days) back in December. While his appearance at Newcastle confirmed his place as our oldest ever outfield player (39 years, 320 days).
- Charly Alcaraz became only the second Everton player whose first two goals for the club were winners in away games (Crystal Palace and Newcastle United) – Tim Cahill being the first.
