Everton supporters, especially those in the South Stand and its corner sections, are being urged to be in their seats at least 15 minutes before the 8pm kick-off ahead of Saturday night’s Premier League fixture against Arsenal at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Supporters’ group The 1878s are preparing to deliver their first major fan display at the Club’s new home and are encouraging fellow Evertonians to arrive in good time to play their part in what promises to be a special pre-match moment.
The display will see around 15,000 sheets laid out across the upper and lower sections of the imposing South Stand, including the South East and South West corners, creating a striking visual as the teams emerge from the tunnel shortly before the 8pm kick-off. Each supporter in these areas will find a coloured sheet on their seat on arrival.
When the stadium lights go out supporters are asked to hold their sheet aloft and keep it raised until the players move towards the South Stand, helping to build the atmosphere and create a powerful welcome for the team.
Supporters are advised that a light show will also take place ahead of kick-off, alongside a controlled pyrotechnics display in front of the South Stand as part of the fan display. Fans who may be sensitive to loud noises or bright lights are advised to remain in the concourse until this activation has concluded.
Speaking ahead of the fixture, Katie Carter of the 1878s said: “We’ve been planning for this moment for a long time and this will be our first display at the new stadium, which makes it a really special one for us. We’re asking supporters in the South Stand to be in their seats at least 15 minutes before kick-off so everyone can play their part. What we create only works if we do it together, and with everyone involved we can create something special to welcome the team on the pitch.
“None of this would be possible without the incredible fundraising and support of Evertonians from around the world, alongside the backing of the Club.”
The 1878s worked closely with Everton’s Fan Engagement team during the Club’s final seasons at Goodison Park, helping to deliver a series of memorable displays that created lasting moments for players and supporters alike.
Saturday’s match against Arsenal will also be Everton’s final home fixture of the calendar year, under the lights on the Liverpool waterfront.
