Members of the Everton Disabled Supporters Association (EDSA) met with relatives of the original founders during a recent invite to Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The group were invited by the Club to help to unveil a stone on Everton Way, as a lasting and fitting tribute to the pioneering work made by them 30 years ago.
The relatives were also given badges as a momento of the occasion.
Mark Dyer, Chair of EDSA, said “The EDSA Committee has been looking for some time to find a way of honouring the founders of our Association.
"When the concept of Everton Way was introduced, it seemed the most fitting tribute we could make and we would like to thank the Club for making it possible.”
Everton Way formally opened to the public last Saturday, for the prestigious friendly against AS Roma.
The site is now closed again for essential signage works, before opening again for the opening Premier League game of the season, against Brighton and Hove Albion, on Sunday 24 August.
