Iliman Ndiaye is now "back in the frame" for selection, while Dwight McNeil could return to Everton's matchday squad for the visit of Arsenal.

The Blues host the Gunners at Goodison Park on Saturday at 12.30pm (BST) – less than 63 hours after the final whistle of the midweek Merseyside derby at Anfield – but will do so without Jesper Lindstrøm, who has been ruled out with a groin injury.

Ndiaye made his return from a knee injury as a 69th-minute substitute against Liverpool and, speaking in Friday's pre-match press conference, Blues boss David Moyes says the Senegal international is "getting closer" to making a start while still "lacking real match fitness".

McNeil, meanwhile, has been absent with a knee injury since the beginning of December but has now resumed full training with the squad.

Moyes said: "[Ndiaye and McNeil] are both back in training. Ili has been back in training, obviously, and we got him some minutes the other night. Look, he's getting closer, it's just that he's probably lacking real match fitness – but he's back in the frame and we're considering him.

"Dwight is back in training. He's been back in and had three or four days now on the grass so he's getting closer and if we can get him involved we will do."

On Lindstrøm, Moyes added: "Jesper is not available. He's going to get checked by a specialist – he's got a groin problem. We're half looking to see if it could be a hernia, so we'll check it. He's not available."

The Opposition

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be without Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori for the Gunners' final trip to Goodison Park.

Ben White and Jurrien Timber both face late fitness checks.
