Tony Hibbert has described David Moyes as an “honest” manager, who he believes has done a “brilliant” job in settling the Club since his return to Merseyside.
Former Toffees fan-favourite Hibbert was a guest for the inaugural Dockside Live – the all-new live show for every Everton matchday.
Make sure to tune in to Saturday’s Dockside Live for Everton v Fulham, which gets under way at 2.30pm (GMT) on our official channels on YouTube, X and Facebook.
Hibbert returns as a guest on the show this weekend, alongisde host Marva Kreel, and last time out on the sofa at Hill Dickinson Stadium, he revealed what it was like to play under his former boss.
The iconic Blues right-back – an Everton Academy graduate – played for the Toffees between 1999 and 2016, registering 329 appearances.
“David Moyes is honest,” said Hibbert on his manager between 2002 and 2013. “He will tell you what he wants from you. Me personally, I would rather have that as a player.
“He will give you all the praise in the world, but will also tell you what he needs from you.
“He is just one of those people, on the pitch and in training. Everything is set out, everyone knows their jobs.
“So, it’s comfortable because a player knows what the needs are for a David Moyes’ team.”
After departing the Club in 2013, Moyes went on to manage Manchester United, Sunderland, Real Sociedad, West Ham United, before returning to Merseyside in January of this year.
His reappointment has been a success so far, says Hibbert, who added: “The manager has come in to settle the club. The main thing was to get the Club back to where it was when he was last here.
“He knows the Club, so it is going to take some time to get his feet right back in, and settle the Club the way he wants to, but I think at the moment, he’s done brilliantly for us.”
