Magill To Leave Everton

Simone Magill will leave Everton when her contract expires at the end of June after more than nine years of loyal service to the Club.

The 27-year-old forward joined Everton in March 2013 from Mid-Ulster and has become a fans’ favourite with her goalscoring and committed performances.

A trailblazer, Magill became the first Northern Ireland international to sign a full-time professional contract in the women’s game when she put pen to paper on a deal with Everton in June 2017.

During her time on Merseyside, Magill has helped the Blues reach two FA Cup finals as well as enjoying a Championship-winning season in 2017, alongside two Player of the Year awards in 2014/15 and 2018/19.

In an emotional interview with evertontv, Magill explained her decision to move on from Everton.

“It’s never an easy decision,” she said. “I’ve been here for nine years. To say I’m emotional is an understatement.

“I’ve grown to love the Club, the fans, the people and what it stands for.

MAGILL REFLECTS ON EVERTON SPELL

After more than nine years at Everton, Simone Magill reflects on the decision to move on from the Club this summer.

“To leave this club will be very sad. Everton is filled with fantastic people.

“I wish the Club all the best and I have no doubt our paths will cross again sometime in the future.”

Magill’s commitment to the Blues extends to her work with Everton In The Community as she expressed her admiration for the Club’s core values.

“Once you play for Everton, you understand the values and what the Club is all about,” she said.

“I just loved to be a part of Everton and I’m so proud to represent the Club and what it stands for.

“The work they do in the wider community, I’m so passionate about that as well.

“To be attached to a club like that is a huge reason why I’ve stayed as long as I have.”

Magill paid tribute to the passionate Evertonians who have supported her throughout the years.

“The fans are phenomenal,” she added. “It’s been a tough season, but they have stuck by us through thick and thin.

“When I say they are the best, I honestly mean they are incredible.

“I’ll never forget the support they have given to me.

“They are incredible and I’m just so thankful to have met them and to have their support.”

Everton would like to thank Simone for her fine service and everyone at the Club wishes her well for the future.
