An Everton supporter who first visited Goodison Park in 1932 received a VIP visit as she celebrated her 110th birthday this weekend.

Molly McTegert, a resident at Orrell Grange Care Home in Bootle, was stunned when Blues Ambassadors Ian Snodin and Graham Stuart dropped by, armed with gifts to celebrate her remarkable milestone.

Molly, who has been a supporter of the Club all her life, was gifted a replica home shirt signed by the Men’s Senior Team squad, a blue and white bouquet of flowers and cards ahead of Sunday's big celebration.

Jeanette Macklin, Activities Co-ordinator at Orrell Grange, said: "Molly is a lovely lady who always makes our day.

"She has been with us for a few months now and we originally contacted the Club, along with all the other care homes in the area, to see if they could send cards to make her birthday even more special.

"However, the visit by Everton really made her day. The gifts were a lovely surprise and we can’t thank the Club, Ian and Graham enough."

Molly still remembers her first visit to Goodison almost 94 years ago, when she went to watch her brother play in an amateur cup final - and bumped into the late, great Dixie Dean.

She has made many more visits since, culminating in her last game in October 2013, when, at the age of 97, she walked the two-mile round-trip to and from the Mons Stonehouse public house in Bootle with her nephew, Michael, to see Everton beat Hull City 2-1.

These days, Molly still keeps up-to-date on Everton’s fortunes through her son, Peter, and relatives, who are all avid Blues.

1995 FA Cup winner Stuart said: "It was a delightful morning spent in Molly’s company.

"She’s a lovely lady and still bright as a button, so it was lovely to reminisce about some of her memories of Goodison and supporting the Club.

"Everyone at Everton Football Club, wishes Molly a very, very happy 110th birthday!"
