The first five inductees of Everton Women's 'Hall of Fame' were presented with a commemorative plaque by Everton Women’s CEO Hannah Forshaw at half-time during the Blues' clash with London City Lionesses at Goodison Park.

Announced last week to coincide with Everton Women's historic permanent move into Goodison Park, the Hall of Fame celebrates and honours the players, coaches and pioneers who have shaped the history of the women’s team and game.

Mo Marley, Joy McQuiggan, Cathy Gore, Billy Jackson and Louise Thomas were welcomed to the pitch by the Goodison faithful, and are the first names to be inducted. The five have all exerted significant influence on both Everton Women and women's football generally.

They have all been immortalised at Goodison Park, with their images displayed prominently at the stadium.

Selected by a panel made up of former coaches and players, Everton supporters’ groups, journalists, the Everton Heritage Society and Club officials – the historic first five expressed their pride at being recognised by the Club.

“I am super proud and honoured,” said Mo Marley, who was inducted due to her leadership and exceptional performance whilst in several positions within the Club.

“I am privileged to have stood alongside all the stuff, coaches and players; a lot of whom did it just for the love of the game. To then see what is happening today in this world and how much they have played significant part in it is amazing.

“I am very thankful to everyone who gave everything for the Club.’

Legendary manager Billy Jackson guided the Toffees to a league title and lifted the FA Cup with Everton in 1989.

Inducted for his leadership and innovation, he told evertontv: “We are all very proud. I remember at the end of the Cup final game, we were all so excited. The feeling was just fantastic.

“When we first started, the aim was to win the FA Cup. And we ended up doing it.”

Cathy Gore was instrumental to the cup run, her battling performances in midfield inspiring the Blues on their road to picking up the coveted trophy at Old Trafford.

The Hall of Fame inductee praised the Club’s ambition and discussed Everton Women’s move to Goodison Park.

“It is brilliant,” said Gore. “It is great to watch, now. It is on another level. When we played, we had 50/60 people watching. Then, we moved to Marine and got a few hundred. Compare that to now, the growth is amazing to see.”
