Everton can confirm Aurora Galli and Lucy Hope have both signed one-year contracts to extend their stay with the Club until the end of June 2026.
Galli is fully fit again after sustaining an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury on the opening day of last season. The Italy international midfielder worked tirelessly with Everton’s medical team to make a return to action before the campaign came to a close, coming off the bench to a warm welcome in the Blues’ 2024/25 finale at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old became the first Italian to play in the Women’s Super League after signing for the Toffees in July 2021 from Juventus. Following a strong start to her career in royal blue, Galli scored her first league goal for the Club against Aston Villa in March 2022.
Meanwhile, Hope announced on Monday the happy news that she is pregnant. The midfielder will be supported by Everton’s medical staff in the coming months as she continues light training before taking time off for the birth and care of her child.
The Scotland international joined the Blues in 2019 from Bristol City. Operating mainly down the right flank, the 28-year-old started every single WSL fixture in her debut season.
Integral to the Blues’ progression during her time on Merseyside, Hope has scored several important goals, including a Merseyside derby winner in 2019, the equaliser in the Toffees’ memorable 2-1 win against Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-finals, and the opener in Brian Sorensen’s side’s victory over title-chasing Manchester City last season.
On new deals for the Blues midfielders, Sorensen said: “I am delighted Yaya and Lucy have signed new contracts with us.
“I am very happy for Yaya. She started last season with a cruel injury but worked non-stop towards her goal of returning to the pitch before the season ended.
“I was so proud to see her come on against Spurs. Her comeback has been inspirational. I am now looking forward to seeing her in action during the upcoming season where she can continue to be an important part of our squad.
“Everyone at Everton sends warm congratulations to Lucy and her partner ahead of the new addition to the Blues family.
“Although Lucy will not be involved on the pitch for a large part of next season, she is a role model and top professional off it. Her leadership qualities and experience will continue to be crucial to our progression and we know the quality she offers us when she is ready to play again.”
