David Moyes insists there will be no "quick fixes" for Everton during next month’s transfer window.
The Blues manager – quoted by the Liverpool ECHO – was speaking in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference ahead of the Toffees’ trip to take on Burnley this weekend.
“I think in all the press conferences I’ve been in, I’ve always said I don’t think we’ll be doing loads of business in January,” he remarked.
“If we find some players, we’ll be delighted to do it and the CEO will be as well, and the owners if we can do it.
“But I think it’s more to do with trying to have a plan where the ownership want us to have a plan and want us to prepare and do everything in a certain fashion.
“So, I don’t think it will be coming up with a load of quick fixes. That’s the way it’s moving and some of the difference taking place at Everton at the moment.”
Asked if he’d like to bring in a new striker next month, Moyes responded: “Maybe I’d like to bring other things in, as well? We’ll just need to wait and see.
“We don’t want to get everybody’s hopes up. There’s a lot of speculation and I sort of laugh at it a little bit.”
Moyes was unhappy after Everton were denied a penalty against Arsenal last weekend after a William Saliba challenge on Thierno Barry.
The Everton manager said he was “half-choking” when Fulham were awarded a penalty against Nottingham Forest on Monday night for Douglas Luiz’s foul on Fulham’s Kevin – a similar challenge to Saliba’s.
“I was half-choking last night when I saw the decision given and ours wasn’t,” said Moyes in his press conference, quoted by The Guardian. “It feels as though certain clubs get those decisions and other clubs don’t. We seem to be on the latter side of that.
“There was one earlier in the season at Brentford with (Virgil) van Dijk which was quite similar and I think eventually it was given. We are disappointed it wasn’t given on the night and we are looking at others which have been.”
Asked whether he planned to present his case to PGMOL, Moyes said: “I don’t really know. They don’t make it easy whatever you want. They don’t want to have a conversation about it really. They will have [one], but they don’t want to because they’re finding it probably very difficult to explain things.”
