Under-21s
27 August 25
Everton Under-21s winger Justin Clarke has signed his first professional contract, penning a three-year deal until June 2028.
The pacy forward joined the Blues from AFC Wimbledon in September last year as a first-year scholar with the Under-18s, having become the south London club’s youngest-ever player when he made his senior debut aged 15 in November 2023.
Clarke was quick to make a big impact during his maiden season on Merseyside, firing 10 goals in 16 league games, including four in his first three outings.
Rewarded for a stellar debut season with the Toffees, he was part of David Moyes’ Men’s Senior Team squad for their pre-season schedule this summer, earning minutes against Accrington Stanley and Blackburn Rovers, as well as travelling with the team to the USA for the Premier League Summer Series.
Stepping up to represent Everton Under-21s for the first time in February, Clarke’s now a regular member of Paul Tait’s squad, and has already registered a goal and an assist in the young Blues’ opening two matches of their Premier League 2 campaign.
“This contract is really good because it’s such a great club, so I’m pleased to be signing the new deal,” Clarke told evertonfc.com. “I learned from a lot of different coaches throughout last season, and I felt I developed my game in different areas.
“We did well as a team because there were moments where we struggled a bit, but we kept on pushing and fighting.
“I was always confident of coming in and doing well because I know my ability.
“I settled in quickly because it’s a close group, so it’s easy to get on with everyone. Moving away from home and staying with a good family was good for me personally, too.”
Clarke impressed in his pre-season cameos for Everton’s Senior Team this summer, displaying his speed, trickery and willingness to take on defenders.
On the promising showings for Moyes’ team, Clarke reflected: “I’ll always be confident, and I’ll never abandon my gameplan. That’s just me. I had the backing of the coaches and the players, so I knew I could do what I normally do.
“I think it was a good experience. It’s such a good group with lots of characters, so it was great for me and my development to be learning new things.”
Looking ahead to this season, he added: “I just want to be the best I can be. That’s all I can be, really.
“I’m finding it good so far. The Under-21s are more experienced and it’s a good coaching staff.
“I don’t want to rush anything, but I’m looking forward to the season.”
