Brian Sorensen says his squad must put last week’s loss to Chelsea behind them as they prepare to take on Crystal Palace on Sunday (2pm GMT).

Everton head to the capital to take on the Eagles knowing a win would be enough to leapfrog their opponents in the WSL table.

The Blues will do so without Sarah Holmgaard and Elise Stenevik, who miss out through injury, while Sorensen revealed in Thursday's pre-match press conference that Netherlands international Katja Snoeijs faces a late fitness check.

Regardless of team selection, the Toffees' Head Coach says the message to his players will remain consistent.

“In two games this season we were not at our best: Chelsea and Brighton," he explained. 'We did well against Manchester United and Arsenal. But, the reality is that we have two points.

“There are no easy games. We have to be at our best. We will have to do that on Sunday, that is for sure."

Despite a frustrating start to the 2024/25 campaign, Sorensen says it is too early to read too much into league positions and underlined how quickly momentum can shift with a positive run of form.

“Even if we do not get a result against Palace, if it is a draw - the league isn’t going to run away from us," he continued. "I do not focus on the table, I focus on getting my players ready and maximising everything we do in the game.

“Judge us when we are 15/16 games into the season. We have three winnable games coming up. We have played three of the national ‘big four’.”

Everton have struggled in front of goal so far this season, with a lack of ruthlessness in terms of converting opportunities costing them against Leicester and West Ham, in particular.

He added: “I am positive because we are getting into those things (goalscoring opportunities) because that is the hardest thing. But, we have to convert them.”

Sorensen's side return to the Grand Old Lady on Sunday 17 Novemeber (3pm GMT).
