Tony Hibbert is the latest guest to be confirmed for next month's Gwladys Street Presents: Cult Heroes event – and tickets to secure your seat for the special event are available to buy now!
One-club man Hibbert joins Thomas Gravesen, Lee Carsley, Daniel Amokachi and Nikica Jelavic as confirmed names, with more ex-players to follow ahead of what promises to be a night to remember at Goodison Park on Wednesday 21 August (doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start).
The defender spent his entire professional career with the Toffees, having joined the Club’s Academy in 1991. He made his senior debut for Everton in 2001, and went on to make 329 appearances in all competitions.
Hibbert’s tough-tackling, old-school approach to defending, combined with his down-to-earth demeanour, made him a real fan favourite amongst Evertonians.
His service to the Club was recognised after 10 years when in 2012, he was awarded a testimonial match against AEK Athens - the team against whom Hibbert made his eighteenth appearance in all European competitions, equalling a Club record. He famously scored his first and only go for the Blues, a free-kick to make the scoreline 4–1 and prompt a pitch invasion. The defender retired in 2016.
To mark the farewell campaign at Everton's world-famous stadium, the Club will host a series of events throughout 2024/25 that will see a giant stage erected on the Goodison pitch. Evertonians will have the chance to sit in the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End to enjoy shows featuring some of the biggest and most unforgettable names to have represented the Club through the years.
Leon Osman, who turned out 433 times for the Blues during a distinguished Everton career that spanned more than a decade, is set to lead the first of those events.
