Everton in the Community took home the ‘Community Club of the Season – Premier League’ award at the prestigious 2024 Armstrong Northwest Football Awards for the third consecutive year, reaffirming its place as one of the Premier League’s leading community schemes.
The Club’s official charity fought off stiff competition to retain the esteemed title at a star-studded event in Manchester which saw clubs and club community organisations from across the north west come together to recognise those who have achieved footballing excellence both on and off the field.
EitC was acknowledged for its life-changing impact over the past 12 months, with highlights including the launch of the Trinity Project; an ambitious five-strategy that outlines its bold vision for the future with a renewed focus on delivering even greater social impact and making a lasting difference to the lives of those it serves.
In addition to this, EitC’s Blue Base Pantry has provided more than 40,500 local residents and participants with access to high-quality discounted food and key wraparound support services in the past two years. Elsewhere, the charity launched its Breathlessness Hub within The People’s Place, giving local people access to free heart checks which has screened over 1,000 people and detected 38 potential heart failure cases to date.
EitC has invested more than £13million in the regeneration of the area surrounding Goodison Park in the last 10 years, restoring pride in Liverpool 4 with new buildings designed to meet the ever-growing needs of the community. This placed-based approach has consequently enabled the charity to become one of only five Liverpool-based ‘Anchor Institution’ organisations.
Meanwhile, EitC and the Steve Morgan Foundation’s collaborative initiative, the ‘Steve Morgan Community Impact Model’ was shortlisted as a finalist for ‘Community Initiative of the Season – Premier League’. The charity’s work with the Steve Morgan Foundation in some of the City Region’s most deprived boroughs supports more than 10,000 young people a year and has generated £35.6million of total social value since its launch in 2020.
Elsewhere, EitC also won bronze for ‘Best Sports Community Scheme’ at this year’s Sports Business Awards. Hailed for its life-saving work, the charity has supported hundreds of thousands of individuals from across the Liverpool City Region through its 60-plus projects and initiatives during the past year.
Sue Gregory, Chief Executive Officer for Everton in the Community, said: “To win Community Club of the Season is a significant achievement in itself, but to retain this esteemed title for the third year in a row is just remarkable. I can’t thank our incredible staff and volunteers enough, they’re at the heart of what we do and without them, our success at both awards wouldn’t have been possible.
“I’d also like to extend our thanks to our long-term partner, the Steve Morgan Foundation. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve delivered together through the Steve Morgan Community Impact Model and look forward to seeing what the strategic partnership will continue to achieve.”
Following on from another award-winning year for the charity, EitC has recently reaffirmed its commitment to the area surrounding Goodison Park with a new campaign highlighting the charity’s present and future provision in L4.
‘Forever’ will enforce Everton Football Club’s commitment to the area once it moves onto its new waterfront home through the life-changing work of its official charity. To find out more about the impact EitC has had in L4 to date and how to support the sustainability of its delivery, click here.
