The former Sweden midfielder joins a stacked line-up of ex-Toffees ahead of an exciting evening at Goodison Park, with Limpar set to appear alongside Lee Carsley, Thomas Gravesen, Tony Hibbert, Daniel Amokachi, Denis Stracqualursi and Royston Drenthe.

Current Senior Team stars James Tarkowski, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gana Gueye will also feature in what promises to be a memorable night at Goodison on Wednesday 21 August (doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start).

"Obviously, it's always nice to come back to Goodison," said Limpar, a lifelong Evertonian, ahead of the event. "For this time, I'm going to meet up with my good friend Daniel Amokachi as well - it's been a long time since we've seen each other so I'm really looking forward to that, too.

"It's kind of a sad thing that we are leaving Goodison but that's the way it is and we have an amazing new stadium to move into next season.

"Goodison has the best atmosphere in the whole country and I'm sure we can recreate that atmosphere at our new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

"Of course, I've experienced playing at Goodison on both sides. First of all as an Arsenal player and you always know that it's going to be a tough thing, it's going to be ferocious, it's going to hurt. Then, to be on the other side of that as a home player is a really special feeling."

Limpar helped the Blues steer clear of relegation on the final day of the 1993/94 campaign with a 3-2 comeback win over Wimbledon, and the midfielder was also part of the FA Cup winning side of 1995.

Reflecting on some of his memories, he continued: "The fans are so important to Everton, especially at Goodison. They 100 per cent played a huge part in keeping us up in that Wimbledon game.

"The football knowledge of the Goodison has always been very good. It's not just that they're loud, they know their football. It was the best place to play football.

"You've seen how that has continued in recent years, with the crowd pulling the team through when we've had difficult moments."

Leon Osman, who made 433 appearances for the Toffees, is set to host the event on Wednesday 21 August, welcoming an array of cult heroes back to Goodison Park for an entertaining trip down memory lane.

In the Club’s final season at Goodison, attending Evertonians will take a seat in the Gwladys and relive some of the best – and lesser known – tales from the stadium’s illustrious past.

Update: 13 August

The Club has reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the Gwladys Street Presents: Cult Heroes and Everton Giants events on Wednesday 21 August and 16 October 2024 respectively.

This is due to unforeseen scheduling and logistical issues that cannot be overcome. A combined event is to be rescheduled in Spring 2025.
