Thelwell Hails Capture Of 'Long-Term Target'

Everton's Director of Football Kevin Thelwell believes the attributes and record of long-term target Beto makes him the ideal fit for the Blues.

The 25-year-old Portuguese striker completed his transfer from Italian outfit Udinese on Tuesday for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year contract to keep him at the Club until the end of June 2027.

Beto becomes the men's senior team’s fifth summer signing, following the arrivals of Ashley Young, Arnaut Danjuma, Youssef Chermiti and Jack Harrison.

Discussing what Beto will add to Everton's squad, Thelwell said: “We are delighted to complete the signing of Beto, another one of our long-term targets, who we believe provides the attributes we have been eager to strengthen our squad with.

“Signing a striker with his experience and record has been a priority for us during this window, while working within the parameters required and ensuring the best deal possible for Everton.

“We are looking forward to Beto beginning his journey with Everton and becoming an important part of Sean’s squad.”
