Loan Watch: Tyrer's Stunning Spot-Kick Save

It was another busy weekend of football for Everton loanees in action for their temporary clubs. Here is an overview of how our players performed in this week’s Loan Watch... 

Harry Tyrer – Chesterfield    
Opponent: Fylde (H)
Competition: National League
Date: Saturday 9 March    
Result: 4-1 win
Overview: Bouncing back from defeat last time out, top-of-the-table Chesterfield earned an emphatic 4-1 win on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Tyrer was called into action early on, making a great save to deny Nick Haughton’s effort from the edge of the box.

At 3-0, Fylde were awarded a penalty, but Tyrer was on hand again, when he leaped to his left to stop Danny Ormerod’s spot-kick, before reacting brilliantly to save the forward's follow-up strike.

The victory sets a club record of 28 league wins throughout a season for the Spireites, who return to action on Tuesday evening with a home fixture against Oxford City.


Zan-Luk Leban – Farsley Celtic

Competition: National League North
Date: Saturday 9 March   
Result: 3-2 defeat
Overview: Farsley fell to defeat in a five-goal thriller against play-off chasing Alfreton on Saturday.

Young goalkeeper Leban needed to make a big contribution after just 24 seconds, when he made a save with his right foot to deny the visitors an early lead.

Heavily involved in the action, the on-loan shot-stopper produced a stunning double save in the final minutes of the game to keep his side in the contest at 3-2.

Next up, Farsley welcome Warrington Town on Tuesday evening.

Elijah Campbell – Fleetwood Town  
Opponent: Stevenage (H)
Competition: League One
Date: Saturday 9 March   
Result: 0-0 draw
Overview: Campbell was forced off the field just 31 minutes into Saturday’s game. The 19-year-old defender suffered a head injury after catching an elbow from Stevenage’s Louis Thompson.


Neal Maupay – Brentford

Opponent: Arsenal (A)
Competition: Premier League
Date: Saturday 9 March   
Result: 2-1 defeat
Overview: A second-half substitute on Saturday, Maupay came on after 78 minutes for Brentford, who fell to a late defeat at Arsenal.

Kai Havertz’ struck an 86th winner for the Gunners to seal a 2-1 win which sent them to the top of the Premier League table.

Sean McAllister – Inverness Caledonian Thistle  
Opponent: Airdrieonians (H)
Competition: Scottish Championship

Overview: A week on from scoring his first Inverness goal, McAllister was absent from the matchday squad on Saturday.

Manager Duncan Ferguson says the on-loan midfielder picked up a thigh injury and could miss “a couple of weeks”.
