Defender James Tarkowski says Everton's players have clarity following the conclusion of the Club's appeal against an initial 10-point deduction which was last week reduced to six points - but insisted the team must remain focused on picking up more points.

Quoted in the Liverpool ECHO, the centre-back reflected on Saturday's frustrating 3-1 defeat to West Ham United.

"I think clarity is the most important thing for us," he said.

"We have cleared that up, and let's concentrate on the football and try and win some football matches. That should have started today, but it didn’t. Now we move onto the next one.

"The second charge that looms over again, you could easily use that as an excuse as uncertainty, but we can’t use that.

"We have been playing well, and we have played well so many times; that’s why the blame comes on the players because the manager sets us up and we cause teams problems; defend well, if you don’t put them chances to bed you are going to get punished at some point."

Keeping with the ECHO, reporter Joe Thomas discusses what changes Sean Dyche may make to his side for this weekend's trip to face Manchester United.

After his spot-kick was saved, Beto rectified his mistake and put the Blues ahead on Saturday.

Thomas believes the Portuguese forward could be preferred to Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Old Trafford on Saturday amongst other potential personnel changes. 

"Beto may now have the advantage over Calvert-Lewin for the lunchtime kick-off at Manchester United," he wrote.

"Ben Godfrey is another late-comer to the team who appears to be in the ascendancy in Dyche’s mind. Godfrey has maintained his place since earning a chance at right back at Fulham in the height of Everton’s winter injury crisis, fending off three others who have occupied that spot this season - Nathan Patterson, Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman.

"How long Dyche overlooks a specialist in that position such as Coleman, or maintains an approach of caution there instead of a more adventurous player such as Patterson, is unclear.

"Idrissa Gueye will have a case to return should he recover from a groin injury. Amadou Onana started in his absence on Saturday but attention could turn to James Garner who, like Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil, was heavily relied on through the congested winter schedule and whose bodies may welcome a rest - though the three game-less weeks that follow Manchester United provide ample time to recuperate. Moving to give someone like Dobbin an opportunity on one of the wings might inject a bit of life into a team that is just short of a spark right now."
