Demarai Gray says he's incredibly excited to begin a new chapter in his international career.

The 26-year-old has switched allegiance from England to Jamaica and has joined the Reggae Boyz' squad for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Everton forward spoke of his pride for his Jamaican heritage via a post on his Instagram account.

“While I am proud of what I’ve achieved in my football career to date, there is still so much I want to do over the years to come," he wrote.

"It’s time for a fresh challenge and, in my eyes, there’s nothing more exciting than playing for a team that represents my family roots.

"I have always been proud of my Jamaican heritage and joining the national team is a dream come true."

In an interview with The Athletic, he added: "It's a chance to dig deep into my culture and something, when I look back on my career, I can hopefully be proud of.

"I want to do something that encourages my children to learn about their heritage, too.

“As a kid, you think football is just about playing and winning, but there’s so much more to it. This is a chapter of my career I’ll forever look at and embrace. Now I’m raring to get started for Jamaica. I’m a huge believer in God and that this is what he wanted for me. I’m very grateful for it.

"With renewed ambition and exciting plans in the team’s pipeline, it feels like the perfect time to take this next step."

In transfer news, Everton are said to be monitoring Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville, according to The Telegraph.

The 22-year-old is expected to leave Elland Road this summer following the club's relegation from the Premier League.

The Dutch star is also believed to have interest from his former side Feyenoord who are keen to resign him.

Everton are also reported to be interested in Villarreal striker Boulaye Dia.

This report comes from Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport after the 26-year-old spent the season on loan at Salernitana, scoring 16 league goals and providing six assists.

However, the Blues are expected to face competition from West Ham United and Fiorentina for the Senegal international.
