Mina's Mean In Defence Yet Again

Yerry Mina helped Colombia keep a clean sheet for the third time in the space of six days after a 0-0 draw against Ecuador in Barranquilla on Thursday night.

The Everton defender played the full 90 minutes and was once again rock-solid in central defence as Colombia took a crucial step towards qualification for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.

The night could have been even better for Mina who thought he had netted a dramatic winner 10 minutes into injury-time, only for his right-footed finish to be ruled out due to a handball in the build-up.

The result was Colombia's third consecutive goalless draw in South American qualifying but the point against Ecuador was enough for Reinaldo Rueda's team to move into fourth spot in the table - the final automatic qualifying slot.

Colombia sit just one point off Ecuador in third ahead of their next two World Cup qualifiers in November - a tough trip to leaders Brazil and home match against eighth-placed Paraguay.
